Information Collection Summary

What We DO collect (for advertising only):

• Advertising identifiers (for personalized ads via Google AdMob)
• Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
• IP address (for geolocation and fraud prevention)
• Ad interaction data (clicks, impressions)

What We DO NOT collect:

• Your scripts or text content
• Personal information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data beyond country/region for ads
• Usage analytics of app features
• Crash reports or diagnostics

Advertising

To support free access to Smooth Prompter, we display advertisements through Google AdMob.

What Information Is Collected for Ads?

Google AdMob may collect and process the following information:

• Advertising ID: A unique, user-resettable identifier used to show personalized ads and limit ad frequency
• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, screen size, and mobile network information
• IP Address: Used for geolocation (country/region) and fraud prevention
• Ad Interaction Data: Information about which ads you view and interact with
• App Usage Data: Limited data about app opens and sessions for ad serving purposes

How Google Uses This Data

Google AdMob uses this data to:

• Display personalized advertisements based on your interests
• Measure ad performance and effectiveness
• Prevent fraud and abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

Your Advertising Choices

You have several options to control advertising:

• Opt-Out of Personalized Ads: Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and disable tracking for Smooth Prompter. You will still see ads, but they won't be personalized.
• Reset Advertising ID: Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising, and tap "Reset Advertising Identifier"
• Remove Ads Completely: Purchase the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase for a one-time fee. This permanently removes all advertisements and stops all ad-related data collection.

Data Storage

Your Scripts and Content - 100% Local Storage

All your personal data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

• Scripts: Your script titles, content, creation dates, and modifications
• Settings: Your display preferences (font size, colors, scroll speed, etc.)
• Onboarding Status: Whether you've completed the app tutorial

This data NEVER leaves your device. We do not have access to your scripts or settings. They remain exclusively on your device in the App's sandboxed storage container.

No Cloud Synchronization

The App does not sync your scripts or settings to iCloud or any cloud service. Your content is yours alone and stays on your device.

Permissions

The App requests the following iOS permissions:

Camera Permission (Optional)

Purpose: To display a live camera preview overlay while reading your teleprompter scripts, allowing you to see yourself during practice or presentation.

When Requested: Only when you enable the camera preview feature.

Can Decline: Yes. The core teleprompter functionality works perfectly without camera access.

App Tracking Transparency Permission (Optional)

Purpose: To allow personalized advertisements from Google AdMob.

When Requested: After you complete the onboarding process.

Can Decline: Yes. You can decline tracking and still use the full app. Ads will still appear but won't be personalized. You can also purchase ad removal to eliminate all ads.

On-Device Processing

All content processing happens locally on your device using Apple's native frameworks:

• OCR (Text Recognition): Uses Apple's Vision framework to extract text from images and documents. All processing occurs on-device with no data transmitted externally.
• PDF Import: Uses Apple's PDFKit framework to extract text from PDF files locally.
• Document Scanning: Uses Apple's VisionKit framework for on-device document scanning.
• Spotlight Search: Your scripts are indexed for iOS system-wide search using Apple's Core Spotlight framework. This data remains on your device and is only searchable by you.

No data from these processes is transmitted to our servers or third parties (including AdMob).

Third-Party Services

Smooth Prompter integrates the following third-party service:

• Google AdMob - For displaying advertisements in the free version of the app (as described in the "Advertising" section above)

We do NOT use:

• Analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics)
• Crash reporting services (e.g., Crashlytics)
• Social media SDKs
• Cloud storage services for user data
• Backend servers or APIs for user content

Network Activity

The App's network connections are limited to:

• Ad Delivery: Google AdMob servers to fetch and display advertisements
• App Store Updates: Standard iOS App Store connections for app updates
• In-App Purchase Verification: Apple's servers to process "Remove Ads" purchases

The App does NOT:

• Connect to our own servers (we don't have any)
• Transmit your scripts or content over the internet
• Download additional content beyond ads and app updates

Data Sharing

With Google AdMob: Device and advertising data is shared as described in the "Advertising" section.

Apple: Purchase transactions (handled securely by Apple)

Your Scripts and Content: NEVER shared with anyone, including:

• Us (the app developers)
• Google/AdMob
• Any other third parties

Your scripts never leave your device because they are stored locally and the app has no mechanism to transmit them.

Data Security

Your data is protected by:

• iOS Sandbox: The App runs in a secure sandbox environment, isolating your data from other apps
• Device Encryption: All data stored on iOS devices is encrypted by Apple's security systems
• Local-Only Storage: Your scripts can't be intercepted or accessed remotely because they never leave your device
• HTTPS: All advertising network communication uses encrypted connections

Data Retention

Your Scripts and Settings: Retained on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.

Advertising Data: Collected and retained by Google AdMob according to Google's Privacy Policy. Typically retained for a limited period for ad serving and fraud prevention.

After Purchasing Ad Removal: No further advertising data is collected from the moment of purchase.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

For Your Scripts and App Data

• Access: All your data is accessible within the App
• Delete: You can delete scripts and data at any time through the App interface
• Export: You can export your scripts as text files
• Complete Removal: Deleting the App removes all associated data from your device

For Advertising Data (GDPR/CCPA Rights)

If you are a resident of the European Union or California, you have additional rights regarding advertising data:

• Right to Access: Request information about data collected by Google AdMob through Google's Privacy Tools
• Right to Delete: Request deletion of your advertising data through Google's Data Deletion
• Right to Opt-Out: Disable tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
• Right to Non-Discrimination: You can still use all app features if you opt out (ads remain but won't be personalized)

California Residents - "Do Not Sell My Personal Information"

Under CCPA, you have the right to opt out of the "sale" of your personal information. While we don't directly sell data, ad-supported apps may be considered data sharing under CCPA. To opt out:

• Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disable tracking for Smooth Prompter, OR
• Purchase the "Remove Ads" option to completely stop all ad-related data collection

Children's Privacy

The App is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

For Children Under 13:

• Google AdMob delivers age-appropriate, non-personalized ads when the app is used by children
• No personal information is collected beyond the limited device data required for ad delivery
• Parents can purchase "Remove Ads" to eliminate all advertising for their children

The App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

International Data Transfers

Google AdMob may transfer and process data in countries outside your residence, including the United States. Google adheres to applicable data protection frameworks for international transfers. For more information, see Google's Privacy Framework Policy.

Your scripts and personal content never leave your device and are not transferred internationally.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal/regulatory reasons. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

Material changes will be communicated through:

• An updated version of this policy in the app
• A notice in the app upon first launch after the update

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
